PET-OPIA
Brentwood News
Brentwood, California - Entrepreneur Michael Landa, who holds an MBA from UCLA and has worked at General Electric and Universal Studios Group corporate development and strategic planning departments, remarks, "I took my career to the dogs, though more than 40% of my clients are cat owners. I am professionalizing the business of pet care by creating a local brand for what may otherwise be perceived as a cottage industry." His Pet Staff, Inc. contracts to provide many in-home services including, but not limited to, feeding and walking your pet. Reliability and accountability are guaranteed: their personnel are bonded, insured and oriented by licensed trainers.
Clients receive a daily log with a timetable indicating when litter boxes were changed, medication administered, walks taken, plants watered, mail received, water refilled, and trash removed. A special section is designated for staff to note other observations and make relevant comments.
"Sonia," a registered nurse's pet tarantula, is a contract customer. Pet Staff relies on a lock box commonly used by the real estate industry to gain access to the premises.
Landa cautions that with the upcoming holidays and with airlines continually changing the rules for transporting pets, pet owners need to think about care for Fido and Fifi. Remaining in their home environment during their owner's absence reduces the pet's anxiety and stress levels, and avoids exposure to health risks such as bordadella, kennel cough, canine influenza and fleas from other animals in proximity.
Prices range from $17 for 30-minute visits to $75 for an extended overnight sleepover. Visit thepetstaff.com or call (310) 273-5600.
